The Joy Of The Lord Is My Strength- Genuinley

For the joy of the Lord is your strength-Nehemiah 8:10

This is one of the most inspirational scriptures in the bible. Reading this scripture will strengthen a believer very quickly. There must also be an understanding of the scripture as well. Nehemiah is a book of the old testament in which Nehemiah prayed to the Lord to rebuild the city of Jerusalem. The prayer was not answered overnight, but it was eventually answered which is a lesson in itself. God blessed Nehemiah to get this work done. This was not an easy task. Opposition was very strong and knowing God had answered his prayer had to let Nehemiah know ” the joy of the Lord is your strength. Anytime we pray something and notice that the prayer is being answered gives us joy and strength knowing God is with us. If you have ever had a prayer answered before you know exactly what I am talking about. Just because our Lord answers prayer does not mean the pathway is clear. You can bet your bottom dollar resistance will rise up against you. The entire book of Nehemiah is full of opposition and fear. Read the 6th chapter alone and you”ll see for yourself. Enemies of what Nehemiah was trying to get accomplished did their best to keep him and those working with him in fear. The Lord had blessed them to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem but they would have to overcome fear to get it done. I imagine the only thing that made that possible was the joy of the Lord being their strength.

Mans Arch Enemy-

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 1st John 4:18. We overcame death and hell with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Everybody should know that by now. One thing that we tend to overlook is that we overcame fear as well. Some things are okay to have a healthy fear of. Those things may be a matter of life and death. The fear I am referring to is the fear in the heart. Just as we read about Nehemiah, when God blesses you in a task or anything for that matter there is nothing the enemy would love more than to scare us away from it. I hate to say it but some of us are easily frightened in this regard. Fear ! fear! fear!. We have to be careful not to let fear in. Fear has many disguises but they all seek the same result.

Go all the way back to the garden of eden. One of the first results of Adam and Eve’s sin was they became fearful. The Lord called out to Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. Genesis 3:9-10. Alot of people overlook the seriousness of that scripture. Before sin came into the world there was no state of fearfulness whatsoever. It is possible to be delivered from sin and still have the condition of fear. This is the reason the joy of the Lord is your strength. Without the joy of the Lord we would all be in deep trouble. Knowing that Jesus has got your back goes a long way. There have been days and nights that I was so full of worry and fear. I remembered to call on the name of Jesus. Amazing is the only way I can describe what happens to the worry and fear in my mind at the calling of his name.

Obtaining The Joy-

The strength I am writing of is not just an inspirational work. This is genuine power. Jesus made it possible for everyone to have this power. Unfortunately not everyone takes advantage of it. People that are not saved obviously are not able to use it. Surprisingly, there are many saved people who don’t utilize this strength either. The joy of the Lord is always available. It is not one of those things you have to cry out to receive. The joy of the Lord is something that we come into possession of. Going to church brings forth this joy. Reading our bibles also gives us this joy. Studying our bibles as well. Praising the Lord is another way. Did I mention prayer? I also can not leave out doing the work of the Lord. Basically spending time with God is how we obtain the joy of the Lord. How can we have joy in something we know nothing about? The more time we spend with the Lord the more we believe that he is indeed with us. You can pretty much measure your joy with the amount of time spent with Our God. Have you ever been to church and just be overcome with joy unspeakable?

Ruled By Joy-

There are some people that I know that are hardly bothered by anything. Some people I know are as full of negative energy as is possible. When you know anyone of these two people described it becomes apparent quickly who has joy and who does not. Both of these attitudes give off energy. People who are full of joy are areal pleasure to be around most of the time. These full of joy people can change the mood of a person or atmosphere for the good. Personally I don’t like being around negative people for to long. They drain my spirit and if I am not careful I will be feeling as miserable as them. The thing I love about being ruled by joy is you don’t have to force it. You are either full of joy or you are not. Notice I did not say you have a great attitude or not. An attitude is something that you can actually force yourself to have whether good or bad. The difference with joy is that it is from the Spirit of God and you don’t turn it on and off. If there is joy in you then it will have to manifest itself. An attitude is something you control. Joy is something that controls and influences you.

Have Some Please-

Joy is free to us all. If we want to laugh, we can be around funny people or even pay for a comedy show. There is a difference between the two. They say laughter is good for the soul. I don’t know if that’s really true or not. Laughter is a result of an emotion. Joy on the other hand is a direct gift from the Lord himself. When you have joy laughter is not even necessary. We are happy on the inside and that’s what really matters. Joy is good for the body and the soul. People in the world today are so overwhelmed with stress when they don’t have to be. Joy gives us strength against all worry and stress no matter what the problem is. Joy will keep you together no matter what it is we are going through. Get yourself some joy and be happy. We do not have to go thru this life miserable. Our Father wants us to be happy. What father wants his child full of the worry this world offers? I encourage you to fill yourself up with the things of Christ and spend the rest of your life joyful. The joy of the Lord is our strength, so why would we not use it? I hope you enjoyed this article.
