Todays Christian Music – Still Inspiring

What a relief it is-

In a world where just about every day is challenging, I’m so glad we have christian music. There are many days in my life where it made my day. Even after all these years it’s good to know that todays christian music is still inspiring. Counting the days that the christian music brought relief to my mind would be impossible. Sometimes we are not able to get to church or study as much as we would like. Todays christian music is enough to hold us over until we can get back on track. The music itself is underestimated in my opinion. All it takes is one song to turn someones life around. That is not always the case. Think of how many Godly inspired songs have led to someone giving their lives to Christ. I wonder just how many people grieving for the loss of a loved one heard a comforting christian song. That song probably made them feel closer to that one they lost for the rest of their life. Stress itself can be subdued by the spirit through Christian music. Trust me I know.

Closer To GOD-

I tell you what, you wanna have an intimate experience with the Almighty? Turn on some good christian music and you shall have exactly that. Alot of times we are just crying out on the inside for more of Jesus. Sometimes we just get into this place where we feel like we are missing something. Christian music can fill that void very quickly. There are times when I just spend time listening and singing gospel music. During those momements I feel as close to God as ever. This is especially true when it comes to songs that sing of his goodness and greatness. Some days a song can just pop into your mind and you know it’s the Lord speaking to you through that song.

Some people don’t know this, but praise is one of the most powerful weapons that we have in spiritual warfare. It is said that praise actually confuses the enemy. Being able to have a song on your heart while going through a test is very helpful. Sometimes we have a favorite song of ours. There are other times when you hear a new song that is right on time for what you are going thru. Funny how that works out. We spend alot of time worrying when were going thru something. I challenge you to take some of that worrying time and trade it for listening to christian music time and watch the results. The bible tells us to make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise. Psalm 98:4. There’s an easy scripture to obey. It is also a fun and fulfilling scripture to obey. There are countless benefits to enjoying christian music when it comes to our relationship with God.

Some of my favorites-

There are some songs that I have heard throughout my life that have just stuck with me. I’m sure the same has happened to you. Today it is no different. Some of my top christian songs and artist are as follows. Number one for me right now has got to be victory belongs to Jesus by Todd Dulaney. Everytime I hear this song it just stops me dead in my tracks. Not only are the lyrics great and true, but this is just one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. This guy really sings from the heart. Another one I love as an artist is Tamela Mann. You talk about an anointed woman of God. Whether it’s “take me to the king”, or ” God provides”, Mrs. Mann will have you feeling the presence of the Lord in no time. I defintley can not leave out Travis Green. His hit “made a way” is right on the money. He will quickly remind you how able God is to make a way no matter what. Another hit he had is called “intentional”. This is a song that I could jam to no matter where I am. There are far more artists that I love but believe me these are a great few to get the party started.

Surviving time-

Alot of music comes and goes. It is such a beautiful thing to know that Christian music has survived for over 2,000 years. That ought to let us know something right there. Actually it’s been around forever when you really think about it. Just think how many kinds of music have come and gone in our own lifetimes. No matter what happens in this world throughout history Christian music is always adapted and serve a purpose to each and every generation of people. I love some older artists that were before my time. The late Mahalia Jackson, as well as the late James Cleveland just to name a couple. They possessed really special gifts that left marks and continue to leave marks in peoples lives to this day. Most different kinds of music have a certain kind of culture to them that are not really true or good. The message in Christian music has always remained the same all the way down thru time. This is just amazing to me.

Continue to sing-

Imagine a world with no christian music. That would be a sad world. Todays christian music brings joy to the world just as it always has all thru history. It is important to the health of our souls that we keep a song on our hearts at all times. The song can be found throughout the bible. …… With my song I will praise him Psalm 28:7, …….. and they sung as it were a new song before the throne…… Rev14:3, Now therefore write this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel: Put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel. Deut 31:19. I will praise the name Of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanks giving Psalm 69:30. The song has been with Gods people from the very beginning. Whenever we are happy or sad christian music is there to serve a purpose and we would be foolish not to take advantage of it. The next time you are going thru some trials or test I encourage you to put on some of the todays christian music and enjoy the results. 1. I must admit I do not know a lot about Christian music. However I have noticed that I do like it. Whenever I am driving I end up listening to the Christian radio channel, I am not sure how, but somehow I just end up listening to that channel. It can be very uplifting music and I enjoy listening to it.

    1. thankyou for your comment. I believe that those songs are putting joy in your spirit. I am glad the sweet sound of Christian music adds a bonus to your day. May The Lord shine on you through these melodies.

  2. Hi, Pastor Phil…
I agree with you completely about Christian music. It is something that will go on for ages and throughout eternity and one day we will be singing and worshiping with the angels around the throne. I love the contemporary Christian music. Right now one of my favorites is Great Are You Lord sung my All Sons & Daughters and Casting Crowns. I feel so much closer to God when I’m listening and singing Christian music. It just draws me to Him.

My son was killed while serving in the Army in Iraq in 2006. It was the worst and lowest time in my life. There was one song I believe God used to reach me. I heard it several months after my son was gone. It is by Mark Harris entitled ‘Wish You Were Here’. I felt like my son was speaking to me through this. It brought peace to me and I knew he was all right. To prove your point how God uses music to touch our souls.
I enjoyed this post. Thank you!

    1. Hi Lynn . Thankyou so much for your feedback. I actually read this comment over about three times because I felt a nearness to God as I read it. I am glad that you enjoyed this article. It always brings me joy when someone knows exactly where Im coming from. Relating to people of the same spirit is a constant reminder of the God we serve. Thanks for sharing your testimony about your son. I am glad that the Lord brought you peace thru your grief. What a mighty and caring God he is. You know 2006 was a low point in my life as well. The lowest to be honest. It was also at my lowest point that God showed me some of the deepest things I can ever remember him showing me. As it is written, my strength is made perfect thru weakness. May the Lord continue to shine upon you and bless you richly always keeping a melody in your heart.

I love Christian music but I hadn’t thought of it in the way you explain it, surviving 2000 years!! I listen to Christian music especially contemporary Christian music, whenever I am doing anything and like you said it really is uplifting. Please try some songs by Danny Gokey(Tell your heart to breath again, Just be held) and NewsBoys (Guilty)
